03 Dec Australia’s only 200 year old life saver
Australia’s only 200 year old life saver.
The Harbour Trust, which manages and protects some of Australia’s most historically significant sites, is celebrating the 200th anniversary of Macquarie Lightstation – the oldest light house in Australia.
Built by order of Governor Macquarie and designed by Francis Greenway, the light house provided sailors with the means to safely navigate in and around Sydney Harbour for the first time.
And the light house is still operating.
Cannings had the privilege of working with the Harbour Trust to celebrate this important milestone, providing media advice and support. The result: we reached more than 1.7 million Sydneysiders through top tier media across print, online and broadcast. At a time when media seem to be consumed by sensationalist, and often negative, coverage, we were pleased to help the Harbour Trust tell such a positive and celebratory story such as the Macquarie celebrations.
